Nuro secures $203 million to boost its AI-driven autonomous tech

August 21, 2025

Nuro Inc. just wrapped up a Series E funding round, pulling in $203 million and pushing its valuation to $6 billion. This new capital will help drive the expansion of its AI-based autonomous driving technology and strengthen its commercial partnerships. Co-founder and president Dave Ferguson shared his confidence in Nuro’s scalable approach and strategic vision that continues to reassure investors and partners alike.

Since its launch in 2016, Nuro – based in Mountain View, California – has been busy blending cutting-edge AI with durable automotive hardware. Its Nuro Driver system is versatile, supporting applications from robotaxis to personal vehicles, and is designed to make self-driving technology accessible.

Nuro licenses its autonomous driving system to automotive and mobility companies, boasting five years of real-world deployments across multiple states without the need for a safety driver. The company is widening its horizons with new testing operations in Japan and a fresh partnership with Lucid and Uber. Together, they aim to deploy over 20,000 Lucid vehicles equipped with Nuro Driver by 2026, starting in a major U.S. city.

The latest Series E round featured a mix of returning and new backers including Baillie Gifford, Uber, Icehouse Ventures, Kindred Ventures, NVIDIA, and Pledge Ventures. The enhanced collaboration with NVIDIA, which now counts as an investor, has further fortified Nuro’s tech offerings. Their latest compute module runs on the NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Thor platform, harnessing the power of NVIDIA GPUs and cloud-based data processing.

This round adds to an earlier infusion of $106 million, which included support from T. Rowe Price Associates Inc., Fidelity Management & Research, Tiger Global Management, Greylock Partners, and XN. Having raised over $2.3 billion to date, Nuro is well positioned to accelerate its global rollout of next‑generation autonomous technology.
