AI startup Anthropic is taking exciting steps to bring voice functionality to its chatbot, Claude. As Mike Krieger, Anthropic’s Chief Product Officer, told the Financial Times, the company is exploring how users might interact with AI more naturally through speech. Imagine chatting with Claude as if you’re talking to a colleague, right from your desktop. Krieger mentioned, “We’re working on evolving Claude for desktop. If it’s going to manage your computer, speaking to it might just be the most natural way.” He added, “We’re already experimenting with voice internally because it’s a handy feature. We’ve got prototypes in the works.”
This move is part of Anthropic’s bigger plan to make AI interactions smoother and more intuitive. They’re even in talks with Amazon and ElevenLabs, a startup focused on voice AI, to collaborate on these new voice features for Claude. While nothing’s set in stone yet, these discussions show Anthropic’s commitment to pushing AI communication forward.
Krieger also mentioned that Anthropic is open to partnering with other companies to speed up the rollout of voice-enabled experiences. As AI technology keeps advancing, these innovations could really change the way we interact with computers, making it feel more natural and less like you’re talking to a machine.
