Microsoft Broadens Copilot’s Capabilities for Better App Interaction on Windows

April 9, 2025

Microsoft is taking a big step forward with its Copilot app, enhancing how you interact with applications on Windows. With the latest update, Copilot’s screen-sharing capabilities, previously limited to Microsoft Edge, are now available across all your PC apps. This means the AI assistant can help you tackle complex tasks, whether you’re diving into Adobe Photoshop features or analyzing images and web pages.

At Microsoft’s 50th anniversary event, Copilot Vision was put to the test, guiding users through a Minecraft session and fine-tuning settings in the Clipchamp video editor. Right now, this testing phase is available exclusively in the United States via the Windows Insider program.

This update brings in functionality similar to Microsoft Teams’ screen-sharing, allowing the AI to highlight parts of your screen to improve app navigation. While it shares some traits with Microsoft’s Recall feature, which captures snapshots, Copilot Vision is all about real-time interaction.

Microsoft is also experimenting with a file search feature in Copilot, letting you ask about file contents on your PC. It supports a variety of file types, from .docx and .xlsx to .txt, .pdf, and .json. The best part? You don’t need extra hardware—just the Copilot app on Windows.

These exciting developments are currently available to Windows Insiders, with a broader release expected for all Windows 11 users soon. Plus, the Copilot Vision update is set to expand to iOS and Android devices, making it even more accessible beyond Windows platforms.
