Capsule Lands $12M to Boost AI Video Editing for Businesses

April 17, 2025

Capsule is stepping up its game in the world of AI-driven video editing, thanks to a fresh $12 million Series A funding boost. This latest update is designed specifically for marketing, sales, and media teams who want to elevate their storytelling. With new features like AI-driven suggestions and real-time collaborative editing, Capsule is making it easier for brands to create compelling videos.

The standout addition? An AI-based co-producer that gives you suggestions to enhance your video storytelling. Think of it as an interactive partner offering tips to make your video clearer and more engaging. As Capsule co-founder and CEO Champ Bennett puts it, “It’ll be more of an interactive experience where the AI is suggesting things to you based on what it thinks is going to make your video easier to understand and have better performance.”

Imagine typing in a prompt like “Create a sizzle reel from our latest event,” and the AI steps in to recommend which footage to use, how to sequence your clips, and where to place titles and graphics. These enhancements are all about supporting you throughout the video production process.

Another exciting feature is real-time collaborative editing. Now, multiple team members can work on different sections of a video at the same time. This feature complements the existing commenting tool, making it easier for teams to share notes and discuss edits.

Since its public launch in October 2024, after a beta phase in 2023, Capsule has attracted big names like HubSpot, Instacart, and Ramp. The AI studio offers a host of features to streamline editing and post-production, from automatic transcription to intro summarization for title cards, image generation, and text animations.

Capsule offers both a free version and a paid enterprise version. The company reports that a third of last year’s revenue came from expansion, which speaks volumes about its adoption success. “As far as the adoption goes, it’s going incredibly well,” Bennett noted.

The recent funding round was led by Innovation Endeavors, with contributions from HubSpot Ventures and individual investors like Frame.io founder Emery Wells and former Twilio executive François Dufour. Previous backers include Bloomberg Beta and Human Ventures.

With total funding now at $19.75 million, Capsule plans to grow its team by hiring more product designers, visual designers, and AI engineers, as well as bolstering its sales department.
