Trump’s AI Vision: New Policies and Projects Unveiled

April 18, 2025

The world of American artificial intelligence policy is seeing some big changes as the Trump administration gears up to lead the charge in technology. In April 2025, the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) rolled out two major policies aimed at guiding how federal agencies use and procure AI. These are outlined in memos M-25-21 and M-25-22. They’re building on President Trump’s executive order, “Removing Barriers to American Leadership in Artificial Intelligence,” and are replacing earlier guidelines from the Biden administration.

Alongside these policy updates, the Department of Energy (DOE) is seeking input on developing AI infrastructure on its properties. This comes right after the administration announced its ambitious $500 billion Stargate project, which aims to create a network of data centers and AI infrastructure across the country.

As the administration prepares to roll out its comprehensive AI Action Plan, we’re starting to see a clearer picture of how they intend to foster AI growth and integration. This strategy could reshape the U.S.’s position in the global AI scene, influencing both domestic and international views on AI development and governance.

This evolving strategy raises some important questions: Will the Trump administration’s AI policies boost American competitiveness, or could they change the global tech landscape in unexpected ways?
