Their Meta AI chatbot, now part of WhatsApp and Instagram, takes on the challenge as consumer AI grows ever more competitive alongside rivals like OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini.

However, it isn’t all smooth sailing. Meta’s lack of a proprietary operating system puts it at a disadvantage compared to platform owners like Apple and Google. As technology analyst Ben Barringer points out, while Meta’s apps are hugely popular, they rely on third-party operating systems, which makes seamless integration a tougher task. That’s why some see Meta’s push into the AI arena as both bold and full of potential.
