AI Agents: Boosting Productivity Without Overstating Their Impact

May 29, 2025

AI agents are delivering noticeable improvements in productivity, as revealed by a PwC survey of 300 senior executives—roughly two-thirds saw positive outcomes. But while these tools streamline daily tasks, they aren’t overhauling entire operations overnight. The real challenge lies in shifting mindsets, preparing for change, and engaging the workforce.

Mahe Bayireddi, CEO and co-founder of Phenom, reminds us that context is everything. He explains that although AI agents can boost productivity by 20-30%, real success depends on smart change management and using data that fits your specific industry needs. This means moving beyond generic information to a more personalised, integrated approach.

There’s also a reassuring note on job roles. AI agents aren’t here to replace jobs but to redefine them, paving the way for new roles and fresh skill requirements. The PwC authors cautioned against settling for limited pilot projects. Organisations that don’t fully embed AI risk falling behind competitors who redesign their operations to make the most of these tools.

If you’ve ever wrestled with inefficient processes or a reluctance to change, this is a timely reminder: integrating AI agents thoughtfully can make your work smoother and more forward-thinking.
