Apple preps a refined Siri upgrade with advanced AI for spring 2026

June 13, 2025

Apple is preparing to launch an upgraded version of Siri, powered by advanced AI, come spring 2026. After setbacks from the original fall 2024 schedule, the company is fine-tuning its voice assistant to deliver a smoother, more intuitive experience.

Reports from Bloomberg suggest you might even catch an early glimpse of Siri’s enhanced capabilities this fall, before the full rollout next spring. Although no exact date has been set, Apple has confirmed that these improvements are on the way within the coming year.

The new features were first announced in June 2024, but technical challenges led to repeated delays, shifting the release from spring 2025 to now spring 2026. At the recent Worldwide Developers Conference, Craig Federighi, Apple’s software engineering chief, remarked, “This work needed more time to reach our high quality bar, and we look forward to sharing more about it in the coming year.”

On May 1, during the quarterly earnings call, CEO Tim Cook also emphasized the importance of extra time to perfect Siri’s AI enhancements. He explained, “We are making progress, and we look forward to getting these features into customers’ hands.” When asked about the delays, Cook noted, “There’s not a lot of other reasons. … It’s just taking a bit longer than we thought.”

Former Apple employees have highlighted the challenges of integrating sophisticated large language models—tools that enable more natural and nuanced interactions—into Siri. This cautious, measured approach stands in stark contrast to competitors like Amazon, Google, and Microsoft, who are rapidly adopting similar technologies.

If you’ve ever found yourself wishing your voice assistant was a bit more responsive or intuitive, this proactive upgrade might be the change you’ve been waiting for.
