After a 40‐year run at Intel, Pat Gelsinger is turning the page to focus on making technology work for people. He’s just unveiled Flourishing AI (FAI), a benchmark designed to check how closely AI models follow human values. The initiative, crafted in collaboration with Gloo—a ‘faith tech’ company that Gelsinger backed nearly a decade ago—draws on insights from The Global Flourishing Study. This survey, led by Harvard and Baylor University, originally measured six key aspects of well‐being, such as character, close relationships, life satisfaction, purpose, health, and financial stability. Gloo’s fresh approach? They’ve added faith and spirituality to round out the picture.
In a candid chat with The New Stack, Gelsinger said, “I’ve lived at the intersection of faith tech my entire life.” His remarks resonate with anyone who’s wrestled with the ethical challenges of technology. By focusing on values that underpin our well‐being, FAI aims to steer AI development towards outcomes that truly benefit society.
