In an exciting development, Faraday Future has unveiled Future AIHER, setting the stage for a new chapter in electric mobility. This marks the debut of the world’s first AI hybrid extended-range electric powertrain system. The announcement was made at the company’s first-ever FF Open AI Day at their headquarters in Los Angeles.
The Future AIHER initiative is a bold move toward integrating AI into automotive engineering. This new venture will focus on creating advanced AI hybrid extended-range systems, not just for Faraday’s own FF and FX models but also for industries like electric aviation and boating.
The Open AI Day was a hit, featuring lively presentations and discussions led by AI experts and Faraday Future team members. The company is committed to placing AI at the core of its operations, envisioning a future where vehicles become intelligent mobile devices.
YT Jia, Founder and Chief Product and User Ecosystem Officer, shared this vision, saying, “AI will reshape how we use automobiles. Moving people is a key AI application, and it’s being completely reimagined.”
Future AIHER’s flagship offerings, the super AI hybrid extended-range system and the super AI extended-range system, aim to overcome traditional plug-in hybrid limitations by enhancing power delivery and intelligence, while maintaining high performance and cost efficiency.
Initially, Future AIHER plans to incorporate third-party range extender technology in Faraday X (FX) concept vehicles to speed up market readiness. Their long-term goal is to develop proprietary AI-driven solutions that maximize efficiency and expand into other transportation sectors.
Faraday Future’s ambitious roadmap outlines a four-phase strategy. It starts with basic AI integration, evolving to multimodal AI for better human-vehicle interaction, and eventually developing an AI automotive operating system with open APIs. Continuous refinement of models for commercial use is a major focus.
The company plans to introduce three AI-powered innovations: the Super AIHER system, an AI Cabin Agent, and a comprehensive open-source AI driving model, aiming for integration into future FX production vehicles. This AI-focused strategy is expected to open new revenue streams through in-car subscriptions and personalized user experiences.
By collaborating with global developers and AI specialists, Faraday Future aims to set new standards in the intelligent electric vehicle sector. Even without Global CEO Matthias Aydt, the FF Open AI Day highlighted the company’s dedication to transforming vehicles into “intelligent partners” for users.
Since its start in 2014, Faraday Future has consistently aimed to disrupt the automotive landscape with a focus on technology and user experience. Its flagship FF 91 model embodies this mission, blending luxury with cutting-edge technology. The FX strategy seeks to bring these innovations to a broader audience through mass-production models.
With the launch of Future AIHER, Faraday Future is poised to lead the way in redefining mobility technologies.
