Google Offers Free AI Tools to Students with New Gemini Guided Learning

August 7, 2025

Google is making it easier for students to access advanced AI tools by offering a free year of its Google AI Pro plan in five countries, including the United States and Japan. If you’ve ever struggled with costly tools when you needed them most, this initiative might be just what you were looking for. All you need is a verified student account and you’re set to dive into a suite of robust features.

The Gemini app now sports a Guided Learning mode that works like an interactive tutor, engaging you with detailed questions and clear explanations of problem-solving strategies. Built on the dependable LearnLM-tuned Gemini 2.5 Pro model, it’s designed to make challenging subjects easier to tackle.

Enhancing the study experience further, the app provides helpful visual aids like diagrams and videos, and even crafts study materials such as flashcards and guides from your course content. This means you can streamline your revision process and get back to the important stuff sooner.

The free Google AI Pro package usually retails for $20 a year, but now it comes free, including the Gemini 2.5 Pro model, extensive research capabilities, 2 TB of Drive storage, and the Veo 3 video generation tool. Plus, there’s the Jules coding agent with increased usage limits, and the advanced Deep Think reasoning engine – a standout in recent coding and maths tests. This offer is available to students until 2026.

This initiative is part of a $1 billion drive to integrate AI learning into higher education. Over 100 universities have already joined efforts to promote long-term AI adoption and to support research into ethical AI practices. Soon, Google plans to expand the reach of these tools to more regional users and integrate them into Workspace for Education domains.

Accessible on both mobile and web, the new Gemini tools promise to reshape the student learning experience by bringing cutting-edge AI directly to your fingertips.
