Hugging Face introduces Reachy Mini: A compact, open‑source robot for creative minds

July 23, 2025

Hugging Face, in collaboration with Pollen Robotics, has launched the Reachy Mini—a compact, open‑source robot built for researchers and hobbyists who want to delve into human‑robot interactions, creative coding, and AI exploration. Standing 11 inches tall and 6.3 inches wide, and weighing just 3.3 pounds, it’s crafted for accessible, hands‑on learning in both educational and experimental settings.

This clever robot features a motorised head, a rotatable body, expressive antennas, and a suite of multimodal sensors—including an integrated camera, microphones, and speakers—that power interactive, AI‑driven audio‑visual experiences. Since Hugging Face acquired Pollen Robotics in April 2025, the Reachy Mini has emerged as the first outcome of this partnership, blending advanced software tools with proven hardware.

Available in two kit versions, Reachy Mini invites you to assemble it yourself, offering a tangible way to understand its inner workings. With over 15 programmable behaviours at launch, it’s designed to evolve with your projects. The integration with Hugging Face’s open‑source models also means you can get creative with features in speech, vision, and personality using Python—along with future support for JavaScript and Scratch—making it a flexible platform for development.

Moreover, its open‑source framework for both software and hardware nurtures a community‑driven approach, where sharing robot behaviours and ideas can spark ongoing innovation.
