Imagine stepping into a hotel where the floors are spotless, thanks to a cutting-edge robotic vacuum. That’s exactly what LG Electronics USA is bringing to the table. In an exciting collaboration with the Marriott Design Lab, LG has unveiled a commercial-grade robotic vacuum cleaner set to transform the hospitality industry. They’re already testing it in select Marriott International properties, and the results are promising.
Michael Kosla, the senior vice president at LG Electronics USA, sees this partnership as a game-changer. He says, “This is a prime example of how our collaboration with the Marriott Design Lab is advancing innovation for the entire industry.” The vacuum’s robust design makes it ideal for large spaces like banquet halls and corridors, simplifying what used to be a labor-intensive task.
For those unfamiliar, LG Electronics is based in Englewood Cliffs, NJ, and is a subsidiary of the renowned tech giant from Seoul, South Korea. LG is a household name, known for everything from home appliances to vehicle components. Their push into the U.S. market is a strategic move that seems to be paying off.
This new robotic vacuum is built to handle the tough demands of hotel environments. With powerful suction and advanced navigation technologies like lidar and SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping), it can navigate complex spaces with ease. Its 3-liter dustbin efficiently collects debris, and the dual cleaning methods—suction and sweeping—ensure thorough cleaning.
One of the standout features is the multi-language mobile app and cloud-based management platform. This gives hotel operators real-time updates on cleaning status, battery levels, and more. You can manage multiple units from a single interface, making it easier to optimize cleaning operations across different areas.
Robert Guidice, Marriott International’s Chief Global Operations Officer, is thrilled about the partnership. He notes, “The LG Robotic Vacuum Cleaner is the result of collaboration between Marriott Design Lab and LG as we leverage a shared dedication to reimagining hospitality operations.”
This move is part of LG’s broader strategy to cement its position in the robotics sector. Earlier this year, LG acquired a majority stake in Bear Robotics Inc., aligning with its goal to lead in robotic innovations. By integrating Bear Robotics’ products with LG’s existing solutions, they’re showing a strong commitment to advancing autonomous technologies across industries.
