Mistral gives Le Chat chatbot a real boost with deeper research and smarter multilingual features

July 18, 2025

French AI lab Mistral is taking a fresh approach with its Le Chat chatbot, rolling out updates that make research smoother and conversation more versatile. With its new ‘deep research’ mode, the chatbot now acts like a savvy research assistant—planning, clarifying needs, and gathering data from across the web. This means whether you’re tackling personal projects or diving into enterprise work, there’s a feature tailored to streamline your day.

Mistral has also upgraded Le Chat’s language skills. Now, the chatbot can switch between French, Spanish, Japanese, and other languages seamlessly—even mid-sentence, which could be a relief for anyone juggling multiple languages. Alongside these enhancements, Mistral’s recent open-source initiative, Voxtral, has been integrated to boost multilingual reasoning and transcription.

For organisations concerned about data privacy, Mistral offers a compelling option. By using unique data connectors, Le Chat lets you work with sensitive information without relying on cloud services. This positions the platform as a strong alternative to cloud-based solutions like OpenAI’s Azure-hosted model or Google’s Gemini.

Additional improvements include a new ‘Projects’ feature to neatly organise chats, documents, and ideas, plus enhanced image editing capabilities that allow you to easily create and modify visuals through simple prompts. If you’ve ever found AI tools overwhelming or overly segmented, these updates are a welcome, user-friendly upgrade.
