Nvidia eyes Chinese Expo debut amid tightening US–China tech controls

June 18, 2025

Nvidia, the well-known US semiconductor giant, is set to take part in one of China’s premier supply chain events for the first time. This move comes as tech tensions increase between the US and China, highlighting a steady, confident step amid tighter export restrictions and regulatory controls on advanced microchips.

The China International Supply Chain Expo in Beijing will see over 100 exhibitors from the US and Europe this July. Organisers confirmed Nvidia’s participation during a press briefing, noting that the presence of Western companies is a clear vote of confidence in both the event and China’s capabilities, regardless of today’s complex global trade landscape.

Yu Jianlong, Deputy Director of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, highlighted that US company attendance has risen by 15% compared to last year, while non-mainland Chinese exhibitors now make up 35% of all participants—a three-percentage point increase. These figures suggest that even with political pressures, companies are embracing opportunities that come with innovation and international collaboration.
