OMRON launches a global robotics division to boost automation solutions

June 13, 2025

OMRON Corporation is taking a big step forward by establishing a global robotics division, effective from April 1, to deepen its commitment to robotics and automation. Operating alongside its established automation business, the new division is geared to deliver faster decision-making, enhanced technical support, and specialised expertise—especially across Europe.

A series of strategic investments have been made into OMRON’s Automation and Robotics Centers of Excellence in Annecy (France), Barcelona (Spain), Dortmund (Germany), and a new hub in Stuttgart, Germany. These centres, supported by an extensive network of proof-of-concept labs, are on hand to spark local innovation and address the evolving needs of customers.

The European unit, staffed by a dedicated team of sales, applications, and service engineers, works closely with OMRON’s global robotics division to provide customised technical expertise and speedy responses. This collaboration extends to a newly formed European R&D team, reinforcing the company’s focus on creating solutions that truly meet local market demands.

Justin King, VP of Product Management, Marketing, and Business Development at OMRON Robotics and Safety Technologies, recently explained that the goal of this initiative is to bridge product development and manufacturing with sales, application engineering, and support. In doing so, OMRON aims to deliver robotics solutions that are not only responsive but also tailored to overcome challenges such as labour shortages, productivity hurdles, and workplace safety concerns.

OMRON’s portfolio now features autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), collaborative robots (cobots), and industrial robots. Recent innovations—like the MD 650/900 Series and the OL-450S AMR—offer practical, scalable options for industries ranging from automotive and digital to medical, food, and logistics. The company is further solidifying its position through partnerships with firms like Techman Robot, Lowpad, and Neura Robotics, ensuring that each solution is as unique as the challenges it tackles.

Looking ahead, OMRON’s strategy is to maintain this robust growth trajectory across global markets including the Americas, Japan, and Southeast Asia. If you’ve ever struggled to find an automation solution that meets your specific needs, you might find comfort in knowing that OMRON’s integrated approach aims to simplify operations and spark tangible improvements.
