Satya Nadella Embraces AI Chatbots Over Traditional Podcasts

May 20, 2025

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella is rethinking his routine. Once a keen podcast listener, he now prefers chatting with Microsoft’s AI assistant, Copilot, to digest content. A recent Bloomberg profile exploring Microsoft’s AI strategy and its ties with OpenAI sheds light on how Nadella uploads podcast transcripts into Copilot and uses their insights during his commute.

With a playful nod to the daily grind—referring to himself as an “email typist”—Nadella uses at least ten custom agents in Copilot Studio to streamline email management, meeting preparations, and other office tasks. This hands-on approach underscores AI’s growing influence at Microsoft, where recent shifts have even redefined roles for programmers, following a period of layoffs. Remarkably, AI now contributes to about 30% of the company’s code development.
