SpaceX Delays Starship Launch Amid Technical Hiccups

August 25, 2025

On 24 August 2025, SpaceX decided to hold off on the anticipated 10th test flight of its massive Starship rocket, originally scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at Boca Chica, Texas. The company explained the postponement was due to technical issues that need sorting on the ground systems—a sensible move when you’re handling such sophisticated tech. This flight was slated to be the fourth Starship mission this year, following setbacks like Flight 9’s preflight explosion in June, a brief post-launch blackout with Flight 8 on 6 March, and an in-flight incident with Flight 7.

Earlier that Sunday, SpaceX also fired up a Falcon 9 from Cape Canaveral, Florida. That launch delivered 5,000 pounds of cargo to the International Space Station (ISS). It marked the 50th Dragon capsule mission to the ISS and the 33rd resupply trip, with Falcon 9’s first stage neatly landing on the drone ship, A Shortfall of Gravitas.
