Standard Bots boosts US presence with expanded facility and a new 30kg robot arm

May 12, 2025

Standard Bots is stepping up its game on US soil with a major expansion in Glen Cove, New York. The company has doubled its Long Island footprint to a spacious 16,000-square-foot facility, reflecting rising demand for smarter robotics solutions in industries such as automotive and aerospace.

Next week, at Detroit’s Automate conference, they’ll introduce a new robot arm capable of handling a 30kg payload and reaching up to 2 metres. With a focus on user-friendly programming and robust safety features, this addition makes it easier for operators who might have struggled with complex coding to get the job done through demonstration-based techniques.

Co-founder and CEO Evan Beard shared his enthusiasm about the milestone: the new factory not only marks an important step towards meeting demand for American-made robotics, but it also kicks off the unveiling of fresh innovations powered by in-house AI and NVIDIA’s Isaac and Isaac Sim platforms. If you’ve ever wrestled with the steep learning curve of traditional robot programming, this approach promises a gentler ride.

Backed by over $63 million in funding from General Catalyst, Amazon Industrial Innovation Fund, and Samsung Next, Standard Bots is positioning itself to change the landscape of US manufacturing—a field traditionally dominated by Japanese, Chinese, German, and South Korean producers. Managing Director Quentin Clark of General Catalyst summed it up by highlighting how improved robotics can address cost and flexibility issues, potentially redefining the sector.

As the industry continues to grow, with manufacturing robot installations up 31% in 2022 alone, Standard Bots’ commitment could offer a more local alternative for companies looking to invest in robotics. With plans to roll out a full model by 2025 after a thorough beta test, this expansion is one to keep an eye on.
