Google’s Gemini AI Expands to Wearables, Vehicles, and XR Platforms

May 16, 2025

Google is broadening its Gemini AI reach by integrating it into a variety of Android devices—from smartwatches and cars to televisions and XR (extended reality) headsets. In the coming months, you’ll start seeing Gemini on Wear OS, Android Auto, and Google TV, with plans to extend its capabilities to XR platforms in collaboration with Samsung. There’s also talk of Sony and Samsung headphones joining the mix.

On Wear OS, Gemini is designed to help when grabbing your phone isn’t convenient, whether you’re working out or cooking. It can set reminders (like noting which locker you used) and pull details from connected apps without you having to remember a bunch of commands.

For Android Auto, Gemini is set to take over from the existing voice assistant. It allows for smooth, contextual exchanges—imagine planning a route with charging stops, summarising messages, or even translating replies. Expect these improvements to roll out to cars featuring Google Built-in in the near future.

Later this year, Gemini will also enhance the Google TV experience. It will serve up personalised movie recommendations and answer educational queries—so if you’ve ever wondered about the solar system while watching TV, Gemini has you covered with related YouTube content.

Google’s strategy with Gemini is similar to the approach used by ChatGPT, aiming to offer a versatile, everyday assistant. Features like Gemini Live, which supports live video and screen sharing, are already making appearances on devices such as the Pixel 9 and Samsung Galaxy S25. Down the line, Gemini is expected to replace the current Google Assistant, tailoring responses based on your search history.

If you’ve ever found tech interactions too rigid or complicated, Gemini’s natural language processing might just be the breath of fresh air you need. It’s all about making your life easier, whether you’re on the move or relaxing at home.
