Manychat has just raised $140 million in funding led by Summit Partners to enhance its AI-driven business messaging platform. Serving 1.5 million customers across 170 countries, including big names like Nike and the New York Times, Manychat is clearly making its mark in the chatbot space.
CEO Mike Yan points out that Manychat handles billions of messages every year across popular platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, and WhatsApp. This fresh Series B investment will help the company add more AI capabilities while growing its global sales and marketing teams.
Since launching in 2015 on Telegram, Manychat has adapted alongside the evolving digital communication landscape. Its growth accelerated when Facebook opened its Messenger APIs, and by 2019 the platform was engaging 350 million users monthly with an impressive 80% open rate.
While the AI chatbot market is crowded, Manychat stands out by focusing on customer conversations that actually drive sales. Sophia Popova from Summit Partners, who will join Manychat’s board, highlights how the company has successfully tapped into social messaging as a commerce channel.
If you’ve ever wrestled with clunky automated messages that feel robotic or impersonal, Manychat’s approach offers a more engaging alternative. Looking ahead, the company plans to keep refining its platform to stay ahead in personalised business communication as AI tools become more central.
