Hesai Group Anticipates a Major Profit Boost as Lidar Demand Rises in Europe

March 12, 2025

Hesai Group is gearing up for a big leap in profits this year, forecasting a jump to anywhere between 200 million and 350 million yuan by 2025, compared to just 14 million yuan last year. The company’s got its sights set on Europe, aiming to supply its cutting-edge lidar sensors to self-driving electric vehicles (EVs).

Recently, Hesai landed a major deal with Mercedes-Benz to supply these light detection and ranging sensors, or lidars. This partnership is a significant milestone for Hesai, marking it as the first Chinese supplier picked by a major European carmaker for global production.

Andrew Fan, the Chief Financial Officer at Hesai, is optimistic about the company’s growth. He highlighted that several international automakers, especially in Europe, are eager to integrate lidar technology into both their petrol and electric vehicles.
