Anthropic Upgrades Claude With Voice Interaction

May 28, 2025

Anthropic has introduced a beta voice mode for its AI assistant, Claude, opening up a new way for you to interact with the platform. Now, you can simply speak to Claude—in English to start—whether you need your calendar summarised or documents searched. This voice feature will soon be available on all subscription plans, making everyday interactions feel more natural and personalised.

The move comes as generative AI sees rapid growth across all age groups, even as traditional voice assistant usage slows. A recent PYMNTS report points to voice features enhancing brand-customer connections, a sentiment echoed by Valentin Radu, founder of Omniconvert. For anyone who’s ever found typing long queries a bit tedious, this update could lighten the load.

Adding to the excitement, Anthropic has also made its web search feature accessible to free plan users. Launched for paid customers in the U.S. back in March, this capability now lets Claude fetch real-time insights from the internet, ensuring that responses are both current and relevant.

Earlier in May, Anthropic rolled out new AI models—Claude Opus 4 and Claude Sonnet 4. Opus 4 is geared towards boosting capabilities in coding, research, writing, and scientific discovery, while Sonnet 4 improves performance for everyday tasks compared to its predecessor, Sonnet 3.7. These updates underscore the company’s commitment to continually refining its AI strategies for a smoother, more effective user experience.
