ByteDance’s Seedance 1.0 outpaces Google’s Veo 3 in AI video creation

June 13, 2025

ByteDance, the force behind TikTok, is stepping up its game with Seedance 1.0. This model turns simple prompts into detailed video sequences—integrating multiple scenes, varied camera angles, and consistent characters with ease.

Benchmarking by Artificial Analysis shows Seedance 1.0 outperforming Google’s Veo 3, Kuaishou’s Kling 2.0, and OpenAI’s Sora in both text-to-video and image-to-video tasks. The model draws on a vast library of video clips from public and licensed sources, scrubbing out distractions like logos and violent content during a systematic cleaning process. Enhanced by both automated and manual annotations, it’s built to handle even the most detailed instructions.

The training process unfolds in stages. At first, Seedance 1.0 learns from a broad mix of image and video data before honing in on tasks that convert still images into video. The fine-tuning stage relies on curated clips and reward training, where human feedback is key to producing natural motion and sticking faithfully to user prompts. If you’ve ever wrestled with video tools that can’t quite capture the nuances of your ideas, this might feel like a refreshing change.

Speed is another strong suit—Seedance 1.0 can generate five seconds of full HD video in roughly 41 seconds. Although Google’s new Veo 3 Fast introduces some stiff competition, Seedance 1.0 remains impressive in its detail and prompt accuracy (with the current limitation being its lack of audio output).

Looking forward, ByteDance intends to launch Seedance 1.0 on platforms like Doubao and Jimeng, catering to both professionals and everyday users. Whether you’re in marketing, content creation, or simply exploring video editing via voice commands, this model offers a reliable and customisable option for bringing your visual ideas to life.
